Semi detached house in the quiet village of St Margaret's
Hope, Orkney, just 5 minutes away from the ferry.
Near the house is the site of St Margaret's chapel and
there is a strong local tradition that it was named after
little Margaret Eirik's daughter, the Maid of Norway, who died
here around 1290, on her way to Scotland. The area was
certainly known as Dunkirk or Danskirk (Danish church) and
during a rescue dig before these houses were built,
evidence of several buildings from the Norse period were
found.
The village has shops, hotels and a top class restaurant,
with tennis court, bowling green and a nine hole golf course
minutes from the house. A comfortable and convenient
base from which you can enjoy the delights of Orkney, it's
history, nature, craft work or simply a place to relax and
unwind.
Accommodation is: double bedroom, bathroom with over bath
shower and open plan kitchen / dining / sitting room.
There is electric central heating, cooker, washing machine,
fridge/freezer, microwave and T.V. All linen and
electricity is included in the price, from £140 per week.
Sorry, no smoking, no pets.
